James Comey. Defier of Trump. Very tall. Able to lure 20 million people into watching a Congressional hearing. But what do we really know about him?
A new leaked document sheds some light.
Before becoming the former director of the F.B.I., Comey was a member of the class of 1978 at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, N.J., and The Outline has exclusively obtained an image of his senior yearbook portrait.
Smiling for the camera and wearing a bow tie and a ruffled shirt, Comey's distinctive eye bags have not yet formed. The text under the photo, presumably written by Comey, suggests that he had two nicknames, “Duke” and “ya Richard,” which are both better than Jim. Comey wrote that he “likes people with big feet” — Trump allegedly wears a size 12 and Hillary Clinton a 7.5, but no footprint is bigger than that of the law, so that tracks. Comey also said, curiously, that he “never did get a V.D.,” a common way to refer to venereal disease, but could also stand for voodoo doll, venn diagram, or video disc. Common venereal diseases in 1978 included syphillis and gonnorhea.
Finally, Comey wrote that his “plans included becoming a doctor or a rutabaga farmer.” Ah, to be 18 again, with the entire world in your palm, and no knowledge that Donald Trump would become president.
