Last minute holiday shopping time is in full swing, and I personally have not bought a single gift yet because I’m paralyzed by the fear that people won’t like the presents I give them. Judging by consumer data, I am basically alone in this — holiday sales figures are higher than they have been in years, and almost all of it is being done online instead of at the mall. People are spending more, but the numbers show that unfortunately, that cash isn’t quite trickling down to the retail workers and delivery people who keep the system running. Here’s a look at some very big, very real numbers related to this gifting season.
