The whistleblower leaked video of a U.S. military strike that killed two Reuters journalists to WikiLeaks.

Chelsea Manning, the Army private who spent seven years in prison for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks, is being released today.

Manning’s revelations included:

  • About 250,000 State Department diplomatic cables, which provided revelations around a wide range of issues including sex abuses at the Vatican and the claim that the oil company Shell “inserted staff” into Nigeria's government
  • Incident reports from Iraq and Afghanistan that WikiLeaks billed as the “War Logs,” which showed that estimates of casualties were higher than reported
  • Footage of an airstrike in Iraq in 2007 that killed two Reuters journalists, billed by WikiLeaks as “Collateral Murder”

President Obama commuted Manning’s sentence 28 years early, with the White House saying she had served enough time.

Supporters have raised more than $150,000 for Manning’s living expenses.
